Tian Hsu, born and raised in London, has always been immersed in a rich blend of cultures and ideas, which is evident in her diverse artistic pursuits. Her interests span across various mediums, including sculpting, furniture design, graphic design, and videography.
Currently studying architecture and mechanical engineering at Yale, Tian finds that the technical discipline adds a pragmatic lens to her artistic work. "Mechanical engineering gives me a practical perspective on the art I create," she says.
In addition to her studies, Tian serves as Head Creative for 17o1 Records , a student-run record label whose artists have performed at venues like Toad's Place in New Haven, The Bowery in New York, and The Table & Gallery this fall. She is also the Creative Visual Lead for the Yale Sustainable Food Program.
Lately, she has been exploring the integration of 3D modeling and virtual reality into her artwork. Her latest exhibition, Shrinking Spaces: Where Will We Live in the Future?, was featured in the Yale Daily News following its debut at Trumbull Gallery. As she looks ahead, Tian aims to continue showcasing her work in local galleries, refining her craft, and expanding her horizons in the world of design.
