Alan Cary Egre is a New York City-based sculptor and trained opera singer whose artistic path began in a creative Wisconsin family. Growing up with a painter mother and a music teacher father, he was surrounded by the rhythms and textures of both visual and musical arts. Though he formally studied graphic design, Egre is mostly self-taught in sculpture and has spent 25 years refining his work with wire as his primary medium.
Egre’s passion for recycling materials is central to his art, as he transforms repurposed elements into intricate wire sculptures that blend strength and delicacy. His pieces are inspired by the precision of origami and the structural grace of architectural design, creating spatial experiences that capture rhythm and movement much like a musical composition. Balancing his talents as a sculptor and trained opera singer, Egre brings a unique harmony of visual and auditory artistry to his work, crafting pieces that resonate with the influences of sustainability, design, and an enduring creative legacy.
