Mattia Vezzoli

Mattia Vezzoli is an artist and engineer from Italy, currently pursuing a PhD in electrical engineering at Yale University in New Haven. His artistic work centers on abstract acrylic paintings, where he explores form and emotion with a free-flowing, spontaneous approach. Unlike his structured and precise engineering projects, his art rejects rules, aiming for a dreamlike, emotional expression.

Recently, Mattia has begun blending his engineering expertise with his artistic practice, integrating both fields into his paintings. He is also collaborating with sculptors at the Yale School of Art, helping create dynamic, kinetic sculptures that merge art and engineering.

In Electrical Dream, electronic components are positioned directly on the canvas, stripped of their original function and repurposed as visual elements. No longer powering devices or connecting systems, the electronics now serve as static, compositional pieces within an imagined circuit. The artist reimagines their role, linking them to abstract networks that seem to belong to a hybrid machine—partly physical, partly imaginary.
