Frederic's story begins on the island of Madagascar, where the intensity of tropical light first sparked a lifelong fascination with color. Raised in Paris and shaped by years of travel across Europe and the United States, he came to understand that every place carries its own emotional palette — from the lavender fields of Provence to the mountains of France to the vibrant landscapes of America.

But the deepest inspiration behind his work isn't geography. It's resilience.

After building a successful gallery in Asheville, North Carolina, Frederic watched years of work disappear when disaster struck. Rather than see it as an ending, he began again — opening a new gallery in Charleston not simply to display paintings, but to create a place where people could reconnect with beauty, optimism, and hope. The colors, in other words, refused to disappear.

That philosophy lives inside every canvas. Working primarily with palette knives, heavy texture, and brilliant layers of acrylic, Frederic doesn't reproduce the world as it appears — he paints the way memories feel. Light dances across textured surfaces. Landscapes become emotional experiences rather than literal scenes.
