Lucyna Pepek, an accomplished artist, has returned to New Haven, a city she made her home after emigrating from the enchanting Kraków, Poland. A graduate of the 660-year-old Jagiellonian University, Lucyna embraced New Haven's vibrant community, building connections with Yale University through her involvement in the Round the World Women’s Club and as a model for portrait painting at Yale School of Art.
Lucyna further honed her artistic skills at the Art Students League of New York, where she remains an active member. Her career boasts five solo exhibitions and participation in numerous group shows, including notable venues in Milford, Connecticut, and the prestigious Phyllis Harriman Mason Gallery in New York City.
Currently, Lucyna focuses on abstract painting, a natural evolution from her earlier representational works. Her distinctive palette of vivid colors and bold brushstrokes infuses her compositions with energy and vitality. Each piece reflects her mastery of color and form, creating dynamic expressions that captivate the viewer.
Lucyna draws inspiration from the world around her, blending influences from travel, art, poetry, and music. Her latest series, showcased at the New Haven Gallery, features works from her Paris Festivities collection, painted throughout the summer. These vibrant pieces celebrate the spirit and joy of Parisian life, rendered with her signature expressive style.
